Thursday 24 July 2008, 8amAST - No watches, warnings or advisories in effect.

Light winds and plenty of sun, it will be hot today. Small showers dot the entire radar field this morning, but PR is expecting real rain this afternoon, and as usual the VI will have little measurable precip.   As to the tropics, 97L become so broad a circulation the surface low no longer identified. The area, a couple hundred miles west of Cape Verde is still pegged as low chance of development next 48hrs. The nearer wave, at 55W, looks rather dry.  Of more interest is the newest area of moisture just off the African coast, further south than 97L was when it exited.   A vigorous tropical wave with some good rain would be welcome to those in VI already paying for water deliveries to their dry cisterns.

Today - Widely-scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms possible, wind E 8-13kt, seas 2-3ft.
